What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a state of focused attention and mental relaxation. While in ordinary consciousness we are constantly shifting our object of attention, in hypnosis our attention stops shifting and becomes focused. Hypnosis is a natural state of mind. Depending upon our level of focus, we naturally shift in and out of hypnotic trance several times a day. Usually we are not aware of this because we are not used to identifying these states as hypnotic.
As we look in with hypnotic focus, our awareness of our internal reality intensifies, the subconscious mind reveals itself, and we have access to information that ordinarily is hidden to our conscious mind. Other aspects of hypnosis include enhanced inner receptivity and strong imagination. With this receptivity we have the uncommon power, not available to our regular mind, to change dated internal scripts that may be influencing our lives against our conscious wish.
Because your subconscious and conscious mind are always in communication during a hypnotherapy session:
• You are in control.
• You can bring yourself out of hypnosis any time you want.
• You choose the information you want to share with the therapist.
